in preperation for NERFU as Old Gold prepares to challenge for the Division II title. Having seen Mystic several times over the past few years, Old Gold realized they would have to leave it on the field and thats indeed what they did. Battling Mystic to the end of the second half,

Old Gold, led by their captains Jon-Luc Dupuy and Jason Caron constantly pushed Mystic out of our own half and challenged their defense. Great running by Sisi and Tomasi Konggaika in the second half forced Mystic on to their heels. Old Gold's rucking has continued to be a asset to the team and ball retention and has allowed Arturo Bravo Nuevo to get the ball out to loose forwards and the backs. Great ball movement towards the end of the game allowed Trevor Roberts and Bryan Deptula to put scores on the board. The ability to make the last pass has not been an issue this season for Old Gold which will be a great confidence builder going in to NERFU! Also, the additions and contributions of Sam Berry, Craig Welton and Felipe “Ox” Saafi were of note. Final score was 15-29, with Arturo making a final pass to Jay Poswinski for a try in the earlier parts of the game. We do need everyone at training the next two weeks as we make a run in Newport. We should look to improve our lineouts, scrum strategy, fitness, and pack movement down the field. Lets use South Shore and Portland as a tune-up for NERFU!!!!
