Introducing Sam Choppell

"English Sam"

Sam Choppell has roughly 20 years of rugby experience as a loose head prop. He was captain of his high school rugby club and played 2 years of D1 varsity rugby for Nottingham University.  He played three years for Old Gold before transitioning from player to coach.

Judging from Sam's time as a member of Old Gold he has the temperament, knowledge, and personality to coach people of any skill level.  We are excited for what Sam can bring to the table for seasons to come.

"Irish Al"

Old Gold is again proud to announce the signing of our new Assistant Coach Alan McCormack. Al or “Irish Al” as known through the OGRFC family, started playing rugby for his hometown of Navan ,Ireland at just 8 years old. He then moved on to play with Landsdowne Rugby and also spent time representing Leinster and Ireland at the U19 level. Al moved to Boston in 2012 and spent time playing for Old Gold on and off for the past 6 years or so. Al is the perfect person to balance out Old Gold two man coaching staff.  His experience as a back should mesh well with Sam's predominantly forward experience.
